f. I come to You
from J.A. Romero’ s song ”Sumergeme”
and from what I am feeling right now
Tired and weary from the long road I come,
Can’t find any strength left in me…
I crossed a whole dessert,
Its wilderness and desolation has drained me .
With my soul dry and hollow, I thirst…
And I come to Thee, so thirsty for Thee.
I have fought like a brave soldier,
Yet the fight is almost lost…
the sword of Thy Word
and the shield of faith are nicked,
The helmet of salvation and the breastplate of righteousness
are all ragged…
I have suffered pain,
My clothes are dirty from the whirl of the battles,
My shoes are broken by the thorns and rocks from the rough road I have taken.. .
my heart is crushed and my soul is grieving and thirsty.
I am so ashamed that I failed Thee and I lost the battle.
But to whom shall I come, whom have I in heavens or on earth,
unless Thee?
Humbly I come to Thee,
I need to drink from Thy spring,
I need to dive and soak in the river of Thy Spirit…
Dictionary:
soldier: it is about the spiritual war, which is the most real and important war . Ephesians chapter 6, verses 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18. Just a quote from it: ” put on the whole armour of God…for we wrestle not against flesh and blood , but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”
clothes: Revelation chapter 19, verse 8: ” the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.”; Isaiah, chapter 64, verse 6: “all our righteousness is like filthy rags…”
shoes: Ephesians chapter6, verse 15: “your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.”
and the good news:
Isaiah chapter 9, verses 5, 6, 7:
“For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood, but they shall be burned in the fuel of fire.
For unto us a Child was born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His Name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end.“
and Matthew chapter 5, verse 6:” Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”
This is all about it: to wish more than anything God, His will, His righteousness, even more than just wish, to be hungry and thirsty for these…What does a hungry and thirsty man is doing? He can not think, or want, or do anything else unless he gets what he is looking for, unless he drinks and eats.
St. John chapter 7, verse 37:
” Jesus stood and cried, saying: If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink.”
Revelation chapter 22, verse 17:
“Let him that thirst come. And whosoever will , let him take the water of life freely.“
